When your head will not slow down

  • “It all feels like it is on me.”

Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.

    1 Peter 5:7

  • “My mind will not slow down.”

In the multitude of my thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul.

    Psalm 94:19

  • “I worry about everything at once.”

In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

    Philippians 4:6-7

  • “The news never stops.”

Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

    John 14:27

Money and prices

  • “Prices keep going up.”

Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.

    Matthew 6:31-34

  • “There is never enough money.”

Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, “I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you.” So that with good courage we say, “The Lord is my helper. I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

    Hebrews 13:5-6

  • “We have had to cut back.”

Not that I speak because of lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it. I know how to be humbled, and I also know how to abound. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

    Philippians 4:11-13

  • “We can’t afford what we used to.”

But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can’t carry anything out. But having food and clothing, we will be content with that.

    1 Timothy 6:6-8

  • “It feels like a hard year for everyone.”

Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose confidence is in the LORD. For he will be as a tree planted by the waters, who spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes, but its leaf will be green, and will not be concerned in the year of drought. It won’t cease from yielding fruit.

    Jeremiah 17:7-8

  • “What if it does not get better?”

For even though the fig tree doesn’t flourish, nor fruit be in the vines, the labor of the olive fails, the fields yield no food, the flocks are cut off from the fold, and there is no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD. I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!

    Habakkuk 3:17-18

Work, AI and what comes next

  • “I’m scared AI will take my job.”

Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

    Isaiah 41:10

  • “Everything is changing faster than I can follow.”

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won’t be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling. Selah.

    Psalm 46:1-3

  • “I don’t know what my work will look like next year.”

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow let’s go into this city and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit.” Yet you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. For you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that.”

    James 4:13-15

  • “I don’t know which way to go.”

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

    Proverbs 3:5-6

  • “I can’t keep up.”

Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

    Matthew 11:28

At night

  • “I lie awake doing the math.”

In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me live in safety.

    Psalm 4:8

  • “I dread tomorrow morning.”

It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his mercies don’t fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

    Lamentations 3:22-23
